Very shallow M6.6 earthquake hits Ogasawara region, Japan
A very shallow earthquake registered by the JMA as M6.6 hit Japanese Ogasawara Archipelago at 18:22 UTC (03:22 JST) on August 16, 2018. The USGS is reporting M6.4 at a depth of 11.5 km (7.1 miles) at 18:21 and M6.0 at 18:22 UTC. EMSC is reporting M6.4 and M5.9 at a depth of 10 km (6.2 miles). According to the USGS, the epicenter was located 251 km (156 miles) SE of Iwo Jima, 420.9 km (261.5 miles) SSW of Ogasawara, Japan and 945.4 km (587.5 miles) NNW of Saipan, Northen Mariana Islands. There are no people living within 100 km (62 miles). Although there may be slight sea-level changes in coastal regions, this earthquake has caused no damage to Japan, JMA said. The closest volcanoes are Minami-Hiyoshi and Nikko, both submarine. They have located roughly 100 km (62 miles) W of the epicenter. Periodic water discoloration and water-spouting have been reported over Minami-Hiyoshi since 1975 when detonations and an explosion were als…

1 hr ·  My video is under attack now.. smh.. What gives.. this is becoming an everyday thing at this point. Why? You would think people would be happy that I'm doing such a good job forecasting earthquakes -- and getting it right several times per week. But.. instead ... hmmm... weird...

Earth moves for Darwin residents in Australia as Earthquake strikes in the Banda Sea more than 700 km away! TERRITORIANS felt the earth shake under them today as an earthquake struck in the Banda Sea — more than 700km away. The 5.7 magnitude quake was felt in Darwin just before 10am. Geoscience Australia senior seismologist Phil Cummins said the quake was about 160km below the earth’s surface and did not pose a tsunami threat. “It’s too small and too deep to be concerned about a tsunami. And we never know about other earthquakes. There might be aftershocks,” he said. He said there had been up to 30 reports from people in Darwin having felt the tremors. He said it was unusual for an earthquake to be felt hundreds of kilometers away. However, he said it was not unknown for the effects of earthquakes’ to ‘carry’ in this region. “It would be surprising for an earthquake to be felt that far away but we know the path between the Banda Sea and Darwin appears to be particularly effective for …

Strong and shallow M6.7 earthquake Central Mid-Atlantic Ridge 11/30/17
A strong and shallow earthquake registered by the USGS hit Central Mid-Atlantic Ridge at 06:32 UTC on November 30, 2017. The agency is reporting a depth of 10 km (6.2 miles). EMSC registered it as M6.5 at a depth of 10 km. According to the USGS, the epicenter was located 1044.7 km (649.2 miles) ENE of Fernando de Noronha (Distrito Estadual), Brazil and 1251.5 km (777.7 miles) NW of Georgetown, Saint Helena. There are no people living within 100 km (62 miles). Based on the earthquake location near the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, a damaging tsunami is not expected, NTWC said.  This earthquake was not felt and there is no tsunami danger for the U.S. east coast, Gulf of Mexico states, eastern coast of Canada, or Caribbean states. Scientists Warn Australian Cities Could Soon Be Uninhabitable Because of Extreme Heat

Climate scientists have warned that some Australian cities could become ‘virtually uninhabitable’ due to a combination of blistering heat and smothering humidity. In the past week alone, surface temperatures in parts of Darwin’s inner city have been nudging 70C – and experts have told news.com.au that some regional cities in Queensland ‘may not be far behind’. This year, Bureau of Meteorology senior climate liaison officer Greg Browning warned Darwin residents that ‘everything would be hotter than normal’ in the lead-up to the wet season. Average temperatures all over the country have been shattering records all year, with Hobart’s recent run of six consecutive November days unparalleled in 130 years. Sydneysiders are also in the midst of the warmest November week in nearly 50 years, ending a dismal run of rain and cooler temperatures. A prolonged run of uninterrupted warm weather is due to hit the ci…

EXTREME EARTH WOBBLE NOW AFFECTING THE SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE 11/29/17
JOHANNESBURG – South Africans were pulling out umbrellas, jerseys, and blankets on Wednesday, as cold and wet weather swept across various parts of the country.  In KwaZulu-Natal, a warning was issued for flooding due to heavy rains. There is also a possibility of gale force winds.  MEC for Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs Nomusa Dube-Ncube urged residents in the province to be extra cautious. “Disaster Management teams in the province are ready to deal with any incidences that may occur as a result of bad weather. We have activated all disaster centers across all districts for teams to be on standby to assist and work together with law enforcement agencies to ensure that human lives are protected. The heavy rains that our province experiences cause a lot of damage to vital public infrastructures like roads and bridges,” said Dube-Ncube. KZN was lashed by severe storms in October and earlier in November.

Great Sitkin Volcano Grows Restless Near Adak
After more than 40 years of quiet, the Great Sitkin Volcano has grown restless. The Alaska Volcano Observatory (AVO) raised its alert level last week after Adak residents reported a steam plume rising 1,000 feet above the summit. AVO Geophysicist Dave Schneider said the plume is just the latest sign of life at Great Sitkin, which has shown increasing seismic activity since the summer of 2016. That’s why the AVO upgraded its alert level from “normal” to “advisory.” “The earthquake activity has been consistent, it’s on a slight upward trend, [and] it’s continuing," said Schneider. "That’s the kind of signal you look for in the earliest stage of volcanic eruptions.” Still, it’s too soon to say whether Great Sitkin will actually explode. Schneider said magma has collected beneath the volcano, but it’s impossible to predict if it’ll push its way to the surface or just cool off and solidify into rock. “There is no single silver bullet in vol…

IMPORTANT UPDATE FROM DUTCHSINCE
11/29/2017 — NEW DEEP EARTHQUAKE “EVENT” UNDERWAY — MAJOR VOLCANIC ERUPTION INCREASE — BE PREPARED November 29, 2017 Over the past four days (since our last article posted here on the website), a noteworthy increase in deep earthquake activity has taken place. The number of deep seismic events is now nearing a full dozen in less than a week.
Above: November 29, 2017 — Six full days of earthquake activity M4.0+ internationally, and M2.0+ in the United States shows major deep earthquake activity (deep earthquakes seen raised high off the globe for identification purposes). Each deep earthquake is capable of causing shallower, larger movement within days. When multiple deep earthquakes occur, they have a combined effect, causing even larger movement as a result of the pressure pushing up on the undersides of the plates.
________ An increase in deep earthquake activity usually results with an increase in large shallow(er) earthquakes which strike nearby area…
