Intense rainstorm hits Athens after deadly wildfires, causing major flooding, Greece

A very intense 30-minute rainstorm hit parts of Athens, Greece on July 26, 2018, causing major flooding. The event comes just days after massive wildfires claimed lives of at least 82 people.
The storm flooded suburban Athens and in some parts of the city, floodwaters were as high as 1.5 m (4.9 feet). Residents reported flooded homes and basements as well as numerous cars.

Athens fire department received 140 calls for help to pump the water from flooded homes and businesses.
No injuries were reported.
