Update as of 5 a.m. on Thursday, September 6:
Mandatory evacuations are in place between Dog Creek Road and Sims Road.
Update as of 9:10 p.m. on Wednesday, September 5:
According to PIO for the Delta Fire Brandon Vaccaro, the Delta Fire has exploded to more than 5,000 acres and is zero percent contained.
Throughout the night, hand crews and engine crews will continue to build fire lines. There will be no air attack overnight as conditions don't allow it.
The 600+ personnel are working on the fire.
Evacuations remain from Vollmers to Gibson.
I-5 is still closed from the Fawndale exit to the Mott exit.
The Siskiyou County Sheriff's Office has issued evacuation warnings for the Dunsmuir area. This is just an advisory. Residents in Dunsmuir should prepare in case of evacuation orders.

Multiple schools have delayed or canceled classes due to the Delta Fire. Full details can be found here.
Update as of 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday, September 5:
Castle Rock Union Elementary School will be closed Wednesday, according to Autumn Funk, Superintendent/Principal. The school was evacuated Tuesday safely.
The Delta Fire is at 2,000 acres and 600 personnel are currently assigned to the fire.
Update as of 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday, September 5:
According to the U.S. Forest Service, the Delta Fire is now 2,000 acres and zero percent contained.
No new evacuations have been issued.
Update as of 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 5:
According to the U.S. Forest Service, the Delta Fire has burned 500-1,000 acres and is growing rapidly.
An evacuation center has been opened at the Mt. Shasta Community Center, according to the Shasta County Sheriff's Office.
It is unknown at this time how long I-5 will be closed.

Northbound I-5 has been closed at Fawndale Road and southbound has been closed at Mott Road due to a fire burning on both sides of the highway. 
Officials said everyone north of Vollmers/Delta to the Siskiyou County line is being evacuated.
The Shasta County Sheriff's Office said the fire is burning so badly on both sides of I-5 that they've requested assistance from Siskiyou County. Units are not able to get in to evacuate people so if you are in these areas, evacuate now.
The U.S. Forest Service said full aircraft and ground response has been ordered. Several other fire agencies are also responding including Cal Fire and the Redding Fire Department.
The Shasta County Sheriff's Office added several motorists have been rescued from I-5 and one was transported with injuries.
